Clinical Features of Hypocalcaemia ΓÇô Trousseau's Sign
Incipient tetany can be predicted by Chvostek's and Trousseau's signs. To perform demonstrate Trousseau's sign, a blood-pressure cuff is maintained for ten minutes at 3mm of mercury above the systolic pressure. Spasmodic contraction of the small muscles of the hand (carpopedal spasm) occurs in patients with Trousseau's sign.
